Who can enter Albania without a visa?
- Foreign citizens who have a valid, multiple-entry Schengen visa, which has been previously used in one of the Schengen states, or foreign citizens who have a valid permit of stay in one of the Schengen states
- Foreign citizens who enter and stay without visa in the Schengen area
- Foreign citizens who have a valid, multiple-entry US or UK visa, which has been previously used in the respective country of issuance, or have a valid permit of stay in the US or UK.
- Foreign citizens who have a 10 year residence permit, issued by the competent authority of the United Arab Emirates, valid not less than one year from the moment of entry.
- Citizens from Saudi Arabia, Bahrein, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Thailand can enter without a visa for the period 6 March 2024 until 31 December 2024 with the document passport
All foreign citizens from countries that are not included in the list are required to have a visa before travelling to Albania. They can apply for a visa in the Albanian embassy that is geographically closest to their country of origin or residency
Which Travel Documents do I need to enter Albania?
Citizens of EU member states must have either an Alien’s travel document (Identity Card) or a Passport. Other visitors must have a passport.
The travel document must have an expiry date at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave.
How long can I stay in Albania without a visa?
You can travel to Albania without a visa if your stay does not exceed 90 days.
What do I need to enter Albania by car?
A Green Card covers Albania. So when entering by car not registered in Albania, you need this insurance certificate. You can get the Green Card from your car insurance in your home country (if covered), your car rental company or buy it at the Albanian border.
You must hold a valid driving license from your home country. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is generally not required if you have a European, UK or USA driving licence.
Are any vaccinations required to enter Albania?
No vaccinations are required to enter Albania. But the following vaccinations are recommended by the WHO: Covid-19, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, yellow fever, rabies, tickborne encephalitis and tetanus.
When travelling with pets (dogs, cats, etc.), the companion animal must be identified (by tattoo, electronic identification system or by the register) and accompanied by a passport issued by an official veterinarian certifying that vaccination against rabies has been carried out.
