Kruja Mountain rises above the town of Krujë as a natural wall. From an altitude of around 1100 meters, there are fantastic views as far as to the Adriatic Sea. The inland mountains of Qafë Shtamë and Dajt can also be seen. Under the top, a Bektashi shrine is hidden in a small cave.
One of the most significant locations for the Bektashi order in Albania is the Sari Saltik Tekke (Teqeja e Sari Salltikut), which honours the Turkish mystic Sari Saltik who lived in the 13th century. Bektashi adherents see him as a saint because the arrival of this religious movement to Albania is attributed to him. According to legend, he left his imprint on the rock and died here. Pilgrimages are organized here regularly.

You can reach the top of Mount Kruja by car or taxi on a good asphalt road. On the large flat summit full of karst sinkholes there are perfect places for a picnic.
TIP: Those in good physical shape can walk up the mountain. Although it climbs sharply, the track is not difficult technically. The ascent will take you one to two hours (see map). There is a restaurant at the very top where you can refresh yourselves.
